How many bars fit in a soap gift box?
Usually two to six. A 120 x 120 x 60 mm box holds four bars on edge, and longer trays hold three in a row.

Written prices from £0.25 a box. Free proof, made in 4–6 business days, free tracked UK delivery.
A gift box has to hold more than one thing and hold it well. Four sliced bars in tissue under a ribboned lid, or a boxed bar beside a ceramic dish in a divided insert: we make both, sized to your set and printed to your brand.

| Set | Typical box size |
|---|---|
| Two 100 g bars side by side | About 190 x 90 x 40 mm |
| Four sliced bars stacked | About 120 x 120 x 60 mm |
| Three bars in a row with tissue | About 260 x 95 x 45 mm |
| One boxed bar plus a soap dish | About 230 x 140 x 50 mm with a divider |
| Bar, cloth and a small bottle | About 240 x 160 x 60 mm with three compartments |
Soap gift boxes hold two or more bars, or a bar with a dish or cloth, and are built for giving rather than daily sale.
Most are two-piece lid and base boxes in rigid or heavy folding board, with a divided insert, tissue and a ribbon or sleeve. The size is set by the items you put inside.
Think of it as the box the customer keeps.
A soap gift box holds a set rather than a single bar, opens like a present and is usually bought for someone else.
The white box in our photos holds four rainbow-sliced bars in tissue, with a magenta ribbon and a swing tag. The cream box holds a single black-boxed bar on the left and a ceramic dish on the right, each in its own cut-out.
Both are two-piece boxes with a lid that lifts off. What changes is the insert and the size.
Gift boxes carry the busiest weeks of a soap maker's year.
Mother's Day, Valentine's, Easter, birthdays and weddings all come with a reason to buy a set rather than a bar.
They also give a reason for a higher price, since the dish or the ribbon adds value the customer can see. The occasions and products below are the ones that fill our quote inbox.
Start with the items, not the box.
Lay the bars out the way they will sit, stacked or side by side, and measure the footprint and the height of the pile.
Four sliced 100 g bars stacked flat make a pile about 95 x 65 x 100 mm. Stand them on edge in a square box and they fit a 120 x 120 x 60 mm base with tissue around them, which is what our photo shows.
A bar and a dish are measured separately and given their own compartment. Leave 3 mm around each item so it drops in cleanly, and about 10 mm of box height above the tallest item for the tissue. The UK cosmetic box size guide has more set layouts.
Both can work, and the choice usually comes down to price point and how the box is sold.
Ask us about board, rigid and finish choices when you request a quote; the table sets out the trade-offs.
| Board | Feel | Best when |
|---|---|---|
| Rigid greyboard with a printed wrap | Heavy, stays square, lid fits snugly | Dish sets, premium ranges, shop display |
| Folding boxboard about 400 gsm | Lighter, ships flat, lower cost | Favours, mail order, high quantities |
| Rigid base with a printed sleeve | Rigid tray, band changes per occasion | One set sold under several seasonal designs |
| Kraft folding board | Natural, pairs with raffia and shred | Market stalls and farm shop gifts |
A gift box without an insert is a box of loose things.
The cream box in our photos shows the fix: a card platform with two cut-outs, one shaped to the bar's box and one to the dish.
Card inserts are the standard choice and are cut to your items. Foam inserts are an option when a ceramic dish needs more protection in the post. Tissue or shredded paper on request fills a box of bars and softens the look.
If your set includes a bottle or a jar, each one gets its own compartment. Our skincare gift set boxes with inserts show how multi-item inserts are laid out.
A ribbon does two jobs.
It holds the lid on in a shopping bag, and it signals a gift before the box is opened.
We can cut a slot in the lid and base so a ribbon threads through, or leave the box plain for a ribbon tied around it, as in our photo. A swing tag printed in your colours hangs from the bow.
Print on the lid is where the brand lives. Foil on the name, a soft touch lamination and an embossed motif are the finishes we quote most. The lid finishes guide for beauty boxes shows what each looks like.
The order of assembly makes a difference to how the box looks when it is opened.
Yes, with an outer.
A rigid gift box is strong but its corners scuff in a courier bag, so it goes inside a card mailer with paper around it.
A folding gift box travels flat to you and is assembled when an order comes in, which saves storage for a seasonal range.
For subscription-style boxes sent every month, the mailer itself can be the gift box. Our beauty subscription boxes for monthly sets are built that way.
Printing the occasion on the lid is the first.
A lid that says Mother's Day is dead stock in June, so print the brand and put the occasion on a sleeve or a tag.
Skipping the insert to save money is the second. A dish that slides into a bar in transit cracks, and the refund costs more than the card.
The third is forgetting the tissue height. A box that is exactly as tall as the bars leaves no room for tissue, and the lid will not sit flat.
Send us the items in the set with their sizes, the board, the lid style and how many boxes you need.
Each order gets its own price, from £0.25 per unit, confirmed on a written quote.
A free design proof lays your artwork over the lid, the base and the insert. After approval the boxes are made in 4 to 6 business days.
Free tracked delivery follows, reaching UK customers in two to three business days. A box that arrives damaged or misprinted is reprinted or refunded when you report it inside ten days with photos. For single bars that go inside a set, see our single bar soap boxes.
Choose a real photo of the box you have in mind, put your logo on it, pick a colour and finish, and send it over. Our designers turn it into a free, print-ready proof.

The more we know about what goes inside, the bottle or jar, the quantity and the look you are after, the sharper the price. A packaging specialist replies within one business day with a written quote and a free design proof.

Yes. A divided card insert gives the dish and the bar their own cut-outs so they do not touch in transit.
Ribbon in your colour is an option, either threaded through slots in the lid or tied around the box.
You can, but we suggest printing the brand on the lid and putting the occasion on a sleeve or tag so the boxes work all year.
Either. Rigid greyboard with a printed wrap suits dish sets and shop display; folding board suits favours and mail order.
Yes. A small two-piece box for one bar with a name tag is a common favour, and runs are quoted per order.
Tissue and shredded paper are available on request and are confirmed on the quote with the insert.
Yes. Rigid gift boxes can be made with a magnetic lid instead of a lift-off one.
Yes. A lid window, with film fitted on request, lets the customer see the bars without lifting the lid.
