Gift boxes built for a set of beauty products rather than a single carton: a magnetic lid box with a foam insert, a metallic lid and base, or a cube with a ribbon. Made to the items you put inside and printed with your branding.

| Serum and cream duo, 30 ml and 50 ml | About 180 x 130 x 60 mm |

| Hand cream, lip balm and nail oil | About 170 x 120 x 50 mm |

| Five piece baby bath set | About 200 x 200 x 200 mm cube |
Cosmetic gift boxes are presentation boxes that hold two or more beauty products in one pack.
They are usually rigid greyboard with a printed wrap, closed by a magnetic flap or a lift-off lid, and fitted with a card or foam insert cut to each item. Folding versions in metallic or textured board are made for lighter sets.
A single carton for one product is a product box.
A cosmetic gift box holds a set, and it is built to be opened by someone other than the person who paid for it.
That changes the job. The lid has to open with a bit of theatre, the inside has to look arranged rather than packed, and the box has to be worth keeping on a dressing table after the products are gone.
The three boxes in our photos show the usual forms: a gold lid and base with a printed lid panel, a patterned cube tied with ribbon, and a blush magnetic box with a foam insert holding a serum and a cream.
Gift sets are where many small beauty brands make their best margin, and the box carries much of that value.
The same rigid box serves a boutique skincare brand and a salon desk.
The whole group of set and gift packs lives in our gift boxes and subscription boxes range, where you can compare styles side by side.
Rigid greyboard with a printed wrap is the gift box most people picture.
The walls are about 1.5 to 2 mm thick, the corners are sharp and the lid lifts off with a slight resistance. It costs more than a folding box and it arrives assembled.
A folding gift box in metallic or textured board ships flat and squares up at your bench. It suits lighter sets of three lip products or a hand cream trio, and a gold or silver board gives a gift look without the rigid price.
Board, rigid and finish options are available on request. The quote lists what we suggest for your set and its weight.
| Build | Feels like | Best when |
|---|---|---|
| Rigid magnetic flap box | Heavy, book-like, closes with a click | Premium duos and trios, clinic sets |
| Rigid lid and base | Classic lift-off lid, two pieces | Cube sets, ribbon-tied gifts |
| Rigid sleeve and tray | Tray slides out of a printed sleeve | Sets that need a clean front panel |
| Folding metallic lid box | Light, bright, ships flat | Lip sets, hand cream trios, favours |
Lay the products out on a table in the order they should be seen.
The hero item, usually the largest bottle, goes centre or left. Smaller items sit beside it with even gaps.
Measure each item at its widest point and its height. A 30 ml dropper bottle is about 35 mm wide and 100 mm tall with the pipette on; a 50 ml jar is about 55 mm wide and 45 mm tall. Those two numbers decide whether the set lies flat or stands up.
We cut the insert from card or foam on request. Card suits a flat-lying set of tubes and jars. Foam holds a standing glass bottle and stops it tipping into its neighbour. Our guide to cosmetic box styles and closures shows how each box type takes an insert.
The most common UK set is a 30 ml serum with a 50 ml cream, lying flat side by side.
The insert needs about 40 mm for the bottle, 60 mm for the jar and 15 mm gaps, so the inside is close to 160 x 110 mm.
Add the insert depth and the wall thickness and the outside box is about 180 x 130 x 60 mm. Standing the bottle up instead makes the box taller and deeper, at roughly 150 x 120 x 115 mm.
For sets of four or five, work from the tallest item. A cube of about 200 mm takes five 150 ml bottles standing, with a card collar holding each neck.
On a rigid box the print goes on a paper wrap that is glued round the greyboard.
That wrap can be full colour, a flat brand colour with a foil logo, or a textured paper with debossed type.
Soft touch lamination on the wrap is the finish most skincare brands pick. It feels like suede, hides fingerprints and makes a foil logo sit cleanly. Gloss suits a makeup set with bright colours.
Inside print matters more on a gift box than anywhere else. A pattern or a message under the lid is the first thing seen on opening. Finishes are compared in our guide to foil, spot UV and embossing.
The calendar drives most gift box orders.
Valentine’s, Mother’s Day and the autumn gifting season each need a box in the shop six weeks ahead.
The cheapest way to cover all of them is one box die with a different lid wrap or sleeve for each season. The insert and the base stay the same, so only the print changes.
Weddings and birthdays run all year and favour smaller boxes, often a trio of minis in a lid and base with a ribbon. Order those in a plain wrap and add a printed belly band for each event.
A rigid box is strong but its corners mark if they are knocked.
For single orders, wrap the box in tissue and send it inside a snug outer, with the insert holding each product still.
Glass jars and bottles should not touch each other or the box wall. The insert does that work, and a tissue sheet on top stops the lid rubbing the products.
For trade orders to stockists, rigid boxes nest in cases of six or twelve. Tell us the case count and we size the box to suit.
A few minutes at the packing bench make the difference between a set that looks assembled and one that looks gifted.
An insert cut to the bottle body but not the cap is the first.
Dropper caps and pump heads are wider than the bottle, so the cut-out has to clear the widest point.
A lid that fits too tightly is the second. A rigid lid should lift with a soft pull of air, not a tug. We set the clearance on the sample and the proof.
A box with no inside print is the third. Plain grey or white under the lid looks unfinished on a set that cost the buyer real money. Even a single colour inside lifts it. Single-product rigid boxes for one bottle are covered under our luxury rigid boxes for perfume.
List the products in the set with their sizes, say whether they lie flat or stand, and tell us the quantity and the occasion.
A photo of the set laid out helps us plan the insert and the box size.
Our designers produce a free proof of the wrap, the lid panel and the insert layout before anything is made. The price is quoted per order from £0.25 per unit, with the written quote giving the figure for your box and insert. Production takes 4–6 business days after approval, and free tracked delivery covers the UK in 2–3 business days.
Boxes that arrive damaged or misprinted are reprinted or refunded when you report them with photos inside 10 days. Send your set details to info@thecosmeticpackaging.co.uk, by WhatsApp, or through our contact page for packaging enquiries.
Choose a real photo of the box you have in mind, put your logo on it, pick a colour and finish, and send it over. Our designers turn it into a free, print-ready proof.

The more we know about what goes inside, the bottle or jar, the quantity and the look you are after, the sharper the price. A packaging specialist replies within one business day with a written quote and a free design proof.
