How tall is a box for a 50 ml hair spray bottle?
Usually about 135 mm, based on a 50 ml bottle that stands 130 mm with its cap. We confirm the exact height from your bottle before cutting.

Written prices from £0.25 a box. Free proof, made in 4–6 business days, free tracked UK delivery.
Tall, narrow cartons made for spray and mist bottles, from a 30 ml growth serum spray to a 250 ml salon finishing mist. Printed in your colours, cut to your bottle and closed with a tuck or locking base.

| Bottle | Typical box size |
|---|---|
| 30 ml fine mist spray, about 33 mm wide | About 35 x 35 x 115 mm |
| 50 ml spray bottle, about 38 mm wide | About 40 x 40 x 135 mm |
| 100 ml hair mist, about 44 mm wide | About 47 x 47 x 165 mm |
| 150 ml sea salt spray, about 50 mm wide | About 52 x 52 x 190 mm |
| 250 ml salon finishing spray, about 58 mm wide | About 60 x 60 x 215 mm |
Hair spray and mist boxes are tall folding cartons cut to the height of a pump bottle and its overcap.
They close with a tuck at the top and a tuck or auto-lock at the base, and they are printed with your branding on all four panels. Each one is made to the bottle you send us and confirmed on a written quote.
Height.
A spray bottle carries a pump, a dip tube and usually an overcap, so the box is far taller than it is wide. A 100 ml mist that measures 44 mm across can stand 160 mm tall once the cap is on.
That shape changes how the carton behaves. A tall, slim box tips more easily, bends more along its length and needs a base that will not pop open when the bottle drops in.
So the cut, the crease positions and the base style all matter more than they would on a squat cream jar box. We take the measurements from your actual bottle rather than a catalogue figure.
The same carton style covers a wide run of hair products.
The bottle may be amber glass, frosted glass or white plastic, and the pump may be a fine mist or a trigger spray.
Brands in this group often sit in our hair care packaging range for UK brands alongside shampoo bars and dryers.
Start with three numbers: the widest point of the bottle, the full height with the cap on, and the depth if the bottle is oval rather than round.
Add about 2 mm to the width and depth and about 3 mm to the height.
For a round 100 ml mist that is about 44 mm wide and 160 mm tall with its cap, that gives a carton close to 47 x 47 x 165 mm. Oval bottles need a rectangular footprint, so measure both faces.
If you sell two or three bottle sizes, each needs its own carton. Our guide to common cosmetic box sizes in the UK lists the usual spray bottle footprints to check against.
Up to about 100 ml, a plain tuck base holds fine.
The bottle weighs under 150 g full and the tuck flap takes that without trouble.
From 150 ml upwards the full bottle can pass 250 g. A straight tuck base can push open when the box is lifted by the top, which drops the bottle on the counter.
An auto-lock base folds into a locked platform as you square up the carton. It costs little more and it is the style we suggest for any spray above 100 ml, and for any glass bottle at all.
| Bottle size | Full weight | Base we suggest |
|---|---|---|
| 30 ml to 50 ml | Under 100 g | Straight or reverse tuck |
| 100 ml plastic | About 130 to 150 g | Tuck, or auto-lock for glass |
| 150 ml to 200 ml | About 200 to 280 g | Auto-lock bottom |
| 250 ml and above | Over 300 g | Auto-lock bottom with a card collar |
The pump and overcap are the weak point.
If the carton is a few millimetres too short, the top tuck presses the cap and the flap bows outward on the shelf.
If the box is too tall, the bottle slides up and down in transit and the cap can work loose. Three millimetres of clearance above the cap is the sweet spot.
For bottles without an overcap, a small card collar cut to the neck keeps the pump centred and stops the actuator rattling against the walls. Collars are made on request and sit inside the carton with no glue.
Most spray boxes use folding boxboard of about 350 to 400 gsm.
That weight stays rigid along a 200 mm height without bowing, which thinner card will not.
Kraft board suits natural scalp and oil ranges, and a textured or linen board is available as an option for salon brands. Board, rigid and finish options are available on request.
Print runs across all four tall panels. A full colour pattern wraps well on this shape, and a matt lamination with a foil logo gives a quieter counter look. The details of each finish are covered in our guide to foil, spot UV and soft touch finishes.
Yes.
A narrow front window shows the bottle colour and the liquid level, which helps a tinted hair oil spray or a glitter shine mist stand out.
Keep the window low on the panel, below the shoulder of the bottle, so the cut does not weaken the top tuck. A window on a tall box also needs a film backing, which we add as an option.
Leave the window out if the bottle is plain white plastic. There is nothing to see, and you lose panel space that could carry the product name.
A boxed spray bottle is sent in two ways: on its own to a customer, or in a case of twelve to a stockist.
The carton has to cope with both.
For single orders the carton goes inside a mailer, and the auto-lock base stops the bottle breaking through if the parcel lands upside down. For trade cases, a snug fit matters more, because loose bottles knock the pump heads together.
If your bottle has a smooth cap that pulls off easily, ask about a tissue wrap or a collar. Both are available on request and both keep the pump where it should be.
Three things catch people out on this product more than any other.
A boxed spray sells better on a retail shelf behind the chair than a bare bottle does.
The box carries the name and the claim at reading height, and it stays clean while the tester bottle gets used.
Many salons order one carton design for their own-label mist and change only the colour of the front panel for each scent. That keeps the die the same and the price steady.
For a marketplace listing, the carton is the first thing the buyer photographs, so put the product name on the front and the directions on the back where a camera can catch them.
Send us the bottle size, the quantity and your artwork, or just a logo if the layout is still open.
Our designers lay the panels out for free and you receive a proof to approve before any ink goes down.
Pricing is quoted per order from £0.25 per unit, and the written quote sets the exact figure for your size, board and finish. After approval, printing takes 4–6 business days and the cartons travel on free tracked delivery to any UK address in 2–3 business days.
If a batch arrives misprinted or damaged, send photos within 10 days and we reprint or refund. To start, send your bottle details through our quote request for printed cosmetic boxes.
Choose a real photo of the box you have in mind, put your logo on it, pick a colour and finish, and send it over. Our designers turn it into a free, print-ready proof.

The more we know about what goes inside, the bottle or jar, the quantity and the look you are after, the sharper the price. A packaging specialist replies within one business day with a written quote and a free design proof.

No, each bottle size needs its own carton. A box loose enough for both lets the smaller bottle rattle and the cap work loose.
They can. We suggest an auto-lock base for any bottle over 100 ml and for all glass bottles, and a plain tuck base for small plastic sprays.
Yes, if we cut the box to the trigger width. Measure the head at its widest point, since the trigger usually sticks out past the bottle body.
Yes. The back and side panels take small text, and we check on the proof that it reads at the size you need.
It helps when the bottle is amber glass or the liquid is coloured. On a plain white bottle it gives up panel space for little gain.
Typically folding boxboard of about 350 to 400 gsm, because it holds a tall shape without bowing. Kraft, textured and rigid options are available on request.
Yes. One or two colour print sits well on kraft, and it suits scalp oil and natural hair ranges. Full colour photos look dull on brown board, so choose white board for those.
Quantities are quoted per order, so tell us the run you want and we price it. Many salons start with a short run for a single scent.
Yes, they come flat and pre-glued. Squeeze the sides and the box squares up, then the base locks or tucks and the bottle drops in.
