Do the reeds go inside the reed diffuser box?
Usually yes, in a paper sleeve laid beside the bottle. The box height is set to the reed length so they fit without bending.

Written prices from £0.25 a box. Free proof, made in 4–6 business days, free tracked UK delivery.
Tall folding cartons sized to the bottle and the reeds together, in kraft with one colour print or white board in full colour. Rope handle, window and insert options for shop and gift versions.

| Bottle and reeds | Typical box size |
|---|---|
| 50 ml square, 200 mm reeds | About 55 x 55 x 210 mm |
| 100 ml square, 220 mm reeds | About 65 x 65 x 230 mm |
| 148 ml round, 250 mm reeds | About 80 x 80 x 260 mm |
| 200 ml round, 250 mm reeds | About 90 x 90 x 265 mm |
Reed diffuser boxes are tall printed cartons that hold a glass bottle of fragrance oil and a bundle of reeds.
The height comes from the reed length, so a box for a 100 ml bottle is often 230 mm tall. We make them to your bottle and reeds, flat packed, with the size confirmed on a written quote.
A reed diffuser box is a tall carton that holds a glass bottle of fragrance oil and a bundle of reeds.
The kraft box in the photos is a straight tuck end carton for a 148 ml round bottle, printed in one colour.
The second box is deeper and wider, in burgundy and white, with a rope handle through the top. That one carries a square 100 ml bottle and its reeds as a gift.
Both are folding cartons that arrive flat. The difference is in the height, which comes from the reeds rather than the bottle.
Two heights matter.
The bottle with its stopper, and the reeds, which are nearly always longer than the bottle.
If the reeds travel in a sleeve laid beside the bottle, the carton only has to be as tall as the reeds. If they stand in the bottle, which we advise against, the carton has to clear bottle plus reeds.
Most UK makers choose reeds between 200 mm and 250 mm. That is why a diffuser box for a 100 ml bottle ends up 230 mm tall even though the bottle is 90 mm. Other container sizes are listed in our UK cosmetic box sizes guide.
| Bottle | Reed length | Typical box |
|---|---|---|
| 50 ml square, 70 mm tall | 200 mm | About 55 x 55 x 210 mm |
| 100 ml square, 90 mm tall | 220 mm | About 65 x 65 x 230 mm |
| 148 ml round, 95 mm tall | 250 mm | About 80 x 80 x 260 mm |
| 200 ml round, 110 mm tall | 250 mm | About 90 x 90 x 265 mm |
| 250 ml apothecary, 130 mm tall | 300 mm | About 95 x 95 x 310 mm |
Reed diffusers sit next to candles in most home fragrance ranges, so the buyers overlap.
The box is usually the same width as the candle box so the two line up on a shelf.
Diffusers share print and foil options with the rest of our perfume and fragrance box range, so a scent sold as a spray and a diffuser can match.
Loose reeds standing in the bottle during transit is a bad idea.
The stopper is off, so the oil moves. Most makers seal the bottle with a plug and cap, then pack the reeds dry.
The simplest route is a paper or card sleeve of reeds laid in the box beside the bottle. The sleeve keeps the bundle tidy and the customer gets a clean set of ten.
A second route is a card insert with a long slot for the reeds and a round cut-out for the bottle. That holds both in place and reads as more considered when the box opens.
Kraft board is what gives the first photo its natural look.
One colour black on kraft is cheap to print and still reads as a brand. Full colour on kraft comes out muted, which some makers like.
White folding boxboard around 350 to 400 gsm takes full colour CMYK with clean whites, like the burgundy box. Metallic or textured board is an option for a gift version.
Board, rigid and finish options are available on request; the quote names the one we suggest for your bottle weight.
A 200 ml glass bottle of oil weighs around 400 g with the glass.
In a carton with 10 mm of play, it slides and the carton corners take the knock.
A card insert with a collar around the bottle neck stops that. For gift versions, a foam base with a round cut-out does the same job and looks neater.
Card, foam or tissue inserts are available on request. Tell us the bottle base diameter and we size the cut-out to it.
The box cannot stop a leak.
Only the bottle seal does that, so the plug under the cap matters more than anything we print.
What the box can do is keep the bottle upright and give you a lined option. A lamination option on the inside face slows oil soaking into the board if a few drops escape.
Oil on kraft board leaves a dark patch that will not come out, so wrap the carton in a bag if it goes in the post. Delivery of the empty boxes to you is tracked and free, as set out on our UK delivery page.
The kraft box uses a line drawing of a bottle with reeds and the product name in a serif.
That is one colour black and nothing else, and it works because the kraft carries the warmth.
The burgundy box splits the panel: a block of colour on top and a white band below with the scent name. A two-tone split is a cheap way to look finished in full colour. Foil on kraft board behaves differently from foil on white, which our guide to foil and spot UV explains.
Add the volume in millilitres on the front and your usage and safety text on the back. Inside print is available on folding boxes if you want care instructions inside the lid flap.
A rope handle, like the one on the burgundy box, turns the carton into a carrier.
It needs two punched holes and a reinforced top panel, and it suits shop sales where the box is carried home.
A window cut-out lets the bottle show through. Place it low, so the liquid level is visible, and keep the reeds behind the printed panel.
A rigid lid and base box with a foam insert is the gift route, usually for a 200 ml bottle with a candle alongside. Two-item sets of that kind are covered under our cosmetic gift boxes for sets.

Yes, as on the burgundy box in the photos. Two punched holes and a reinforced top panel take the cord.
About 65 x 65 x 230 mm for a square 100 ml bottle with 220 mm reeds. Round bottles need a slightly wider carton.
Yes, kraft board is one of the options. It prints best in one or two colours, and full colour comes out muted on it.
A card collar or foam base is an option that stops a heavy glass bottle sliding. For shop sales in a snug carton some makers skip it.
Yes, a window cut-out with or without film is an option. Place it low on the front so the liquid level shows.
Yes. Give us the candle box width and we match the diffuser carton footprint so the two stand level on a shelf.
Yes, tuck end cartons arrive flat, creased and glued on one seam. They fold into shape in seconds.
It can on uncoated board. A lamination option on the inside face slows it, and a sealed bottle plug is the real fix.
