Perfume Boxes

30 to 100 ml spray bottles, carton or rigid

Perfume boxes are the printed cartons or rigid cases a fragrance bottle is sold in. They are made to the bottle's width and capped height, usually with a card platform or foam insert so the glass cannot move. You choose carton or rigid, board, print and finish, and we confirm it all on a written quote.

Printed Perfume Boxes

Full colour cartons for 30 to 100 ml sprays

Printed perfume boxes are folding cartons with your artwork printed across the outer panels, and inside if you want it. They are made to the bottle's capped height, in plain, one colour, two colour or full colour CMYK print. Finishes such as lamination, foil and spot UV are options, and everything is confirmed on a written quote.

Magnetic Lid Perfume Boxes

50 to 100 ml bottles sold as a gift or premium line

Magnetic lid perfume boxes are rigid greyboard boxes with a hinged lid that closes onto magnets set into the board. A foam or card insert cut to the bottle's outline holds the glass, and the inside of the lid can be printed. They arrive assembled, with board, wrap and finish options confirmed on a written quote.

Perfume Drawer Boxes

Bottle plus mini sets and oud oils in a slide-out tray

Perfume drawer boxes are two-part rigid boxes: an outer sleeve and an inner tray that slides out like a drawer. The bottle sits in a foam or card insert inside the tray, and a ribbon tab or thumb notch is used to pull it. They are made to your bottle, printed on both parts, and confirmed on a written quote.

Cylinder Perfume Boxes

Round 30 to 100 ml bottles and roll-on tubes

Cylinder perfume boxes are rigid paper tubes with a separate lid that lifts off and seats on a raised inner collar. They suit round bottles, which rattle in a square box. The tube is wrapped in printed paper, holds a card or foam disc for the bottle base, and is made to your diameter and height on a written quote.

Luxury Rigid Perfume Boxes

75 to 100 ml flagship scents and extrait editions

Luxury rigid perfume boxes are made from greyboard of about 2 to 3 mm, wrapped in printed paper and assembled by hand. They come as lid and base, a lid on a neck, or a hinged lid, and hold the bottle in a foam or card insert. Wrap, foil and insert options are confirmed on a written quote.

Hexagonal and Shaped Perfume Boxes

Round bottles and counter displays that need a shape

Hexagonal and shaped perfume boxes are rigid or folding boxes cut to a shape other than a plain rectangle: a six-sided column, a box with two doors that swing open, an octagon or a tapered form. They are made around your bottle in greyboard or boxboard, printed and finished to your brief, and confirmed on a written quote.

Attar and Oud Boxes

3 ml to 12 ml attar and oud oil bottles

Attar and oud boxes are small rigid gift boxes made for concentrated perfume oil bottles, usually between 3 ml and 12 ml. The bottle stands in a foam or card slot inside a wrapped greyboard box with a hinged magnetic flap or a lift-off lid. Wraps, foil and inserts are options, and the size is cut to your bottle on a written quote.

Perfume Oil, Dropper and Roll-On Boxes

Roll-on and dropper vials, single or in sets

Perfume oil boxes are small cartons or rigid boxes made for vials of oil-based fragrance rather than sprays. They hold roll-on tubes, dropper bottles or attar vials between about 3 ml and 30 ml, singly or as a set with an insert. Each box is made to your vial and confirmed on a written quote.

Perfume Sample and Discovery Boxes

Discovery sets of 2 ml vials sent by post

Perfume sample boxes are slim printed boxes with a slotted card insert that holds small spray vials, usually 1.5 ml to 5 ml, in a row. Discovery boxes are the larger version with eight to twelve vials and a printed scent list inside the lid. Both are made to your vial and quoted in writing.

Perfume Collection Boxes

Trio and gift sets of full-size bottles

Perfume collection boxes are rigid boxes with a fitted tray that present two to five full-size bottles as one set. They open with a hinged lid, a lift-off lid or a sleeve, and arrive assembled with the tray glued in. We make the tray to your bottles and confirm the build on a written quote.

Reed Diffuser Boxes

100 ml to 250 ml diffuser bottles with reeds

Reed diffuser boxes are tall printed cartons that hold a glass bottle of fragrance oil and a bundle of reeds. The height comes from the reed length, so a box for a 100 ml bottle is often 230 mm tall. We make them to your bottle and reeds, flat packed, with the size confirmed on a written quote.

What does perfume packaging include?

Fragrance is the one part of beauty where the box is expected to be as considered as the bottle.

A perfume carton has to hold a heavy glass bottle upright, protect a spray head and look right under shop lighting.

This range runs from a plain folding carton to a rigid box with a satin-lined insert. It also covers the formats fragrance brands sell alongside the bottle: oils, attars, sample vials, discovery sets and reed diffusers.

Who orders perfume boxes?

Independent perfume houses and niche fragrance brands are the main buyers, from a first batch of fifty bottles to a shelf-ready range.

Attar and oud sellers order small rigid boxes in volume.

Candle and home fragrance makers need diffuser cartons. Beauty brands adding a signature scent want a box that matches their skincare cartons. Marketplace sellers need something that survives the post and still opens like a gift.

If you are starting with one bottle, the perfume boxes for 50 and 100 ml bottles are the first thing to price.

  • Niche and indie perfume houses
  • Attar, oud and oil sellers
  • Home fragrance and reed diffuser makers
  • Skincare brands adding a fragrance
  • Gift shops and concessions with an own-label scent
  • Online sellers posting single bottles

How big is the box for a 50 ml bottle?

Perfume bottles are not standard, so the box is always drawn from your bottle.

That said, a typical rectangular 50 ml bottle is about 45 x 35 mm at the base and 110 to 120 mm tall with the cap. The carton is roughly 48 x 38 x 125 mm inside.

Measure across the widest point, which is often the shoulder or the cap rather than the base. Give the height with the cap on. If the bottle has a tall decorative cap, say so, because that changes the insert.

The sizes below are starting points. Printed perfume boxes in full colour are made at any of them.

Folding carton or rigid box: which one for perfume?

A folding carton is the right answer for most retail fragrance.

It is made from 350 to 400 gsm board, ships flat, costs less and takes foil, embossing and soft touch lamination just as well as a rigid box.

A rigid box earns its place for gift sets, higher price points and anything sold on a counter where the box stays on display. It is thicker, around 1.5 to 2 mm of greyboard under the wrap, and arrives assembled.

The black box in our photos with the fold-over flap is the middle ground. Magnetic lid perfume boxes with an insert give the rigid feel in a box that still stacks on a shelf.

How do drawer and cylinder boxes work?

A drawer box is a rigid tray inside a rigid sleeve.

The tray slides out on a ribbon pull or a thumb notch, and the bottle sits in a cut insert. The yellow and black box in our photos is this style, with a contrasting tray colour showing as it opens.

A cylinder is a round rigid tube with a lift-off cap, wrapped in printed or textured paper. It suits round bottles and brands that want a shape nobody else on the shelf has. The dark cylinders in our photos have a gold band where the cap meets the base.

Perfume drawer boxes with a ribbon pull and cylinder boxes are both quoted with the insert included.

What makes a rigid perfume box feel expensive?

Weight, finish and the opening.

A heavy greyboard base, a wrap with a textured or linen paper, and a lid that lifts with a little resistance all register before the bottle is seen.

Foil stamping on a dark wrap is the classic look. The navy box in our photos uses a gold foil floral pattern around a framed brand name. Embossing the logo through the wrap adds a second layer. Inside, a satin or velvet-covered insert holds the bottle.

Luxury rigid perfume boxes with foil are the fullest version of this. Hexagonal and shaped boxes take the same construction into six sides or a faceted lid.

What box does an attar or perfume oil need?

Attar bottles are small, heavy and often decorative, so the box is a small rigid cube or book-style box with a deep insert cut to the bottle.

The red book box in our photos opens on a hinge with the bottle held in a black foam insert.

Perfume oils and roll-ons are different: slim glass bottles of 10 to 30 ml in a folding carton, like the dark one beside the 30 ml bottle in our photos. The carton protects the roller ball or dropper and carries the name.

Attar and oud boxes with a cut insert suit bottles from 3 to 12 ml. For slim bottles, the perfume oil and roll-on cartons are the better fit.

How do sample sets and collections get packed?

A discovery set is a card sleeve or a shallow box with slots for 1.5 or 2 ml vials, usually three to eight of them.

The white sleeve in our photos has five cut slots and a fold-over flap with the scent list printed inside.

A collection box is bigger: a rigid lid box with a shaped insert that holds three to five full bottles upright. The copper box in our photos holds three 100 ml bottles side by side with a drop-front lid.

Perfume sample and discovery boxes are the cheapest way to get a new fragrance into hands. Collection boxes are built for the gift shelf.

What about reed diffuser boxes?

A diffuser box has to hold a glass bottle of 100 to 200 ml and a bundle of reeds that are taller than the bottle.

The carton is tall, about 70 x 70 x 260 mm for a 100 ml bottle with 250 mm reeds, with a window on the front so the bottle shows.

Reeds are usually bagged and laid beside the bottle, or held in a card divider. The kraft carton in our photos shows the plain-print version most home fragrance makers choose.

Reed diffuser boxes with a window are quoted from the bottle size and reed length.

Which inserts protect a perfume bottle in the post?

Glass perfume bottles break at the neck when they are dropped.

The insert's job is to hold the bottle by the base and the shoulder so the neck floats free of any wall.

Card inserts are die-cut from carton board and are the standard for folding boxes. Foam inserts are cut to the bottle outline and used in rigid boxes. Satin-covered foam is the gift option.

When a boxed bottle is posted, the carton should then go into a mailer with padding around it. The perfume collection boxes for three bottles use a foam layer for this reason. Inserts of card, foam or tissue are available on request and priced on the quote.

What goes wrong with perfume packaging?

Fragrance boxes have more parts than most, so there are more places to slip.

These come up most often.

  • Measuring the bottle without the cap, so the carton is 20 mm short
  • Choosing a window on a carton for a bottle that will be posted loose
  • Putting fine serif text in foil, where it fills in
  • Buying a rigid box for a scent that sells online only
  • Forgetting the insert for a heavy glass bottle
  • Leaving the barcode and batch area off the base panel

How do I order perfume packaging?

Send a photo of the bottle beside a ruler.

Fragrance bottles are irregular, and the designer draws the insert from that photo as much as from the numbers.

  1. Measure the widest point of the bottle and the full height, cap on.
  2. Choose a construction: folding carton, magnetic, drawer, cylinder or rigid lid box.
  3. Pick an insert: card, foam or satin-covered foam.
  4. Send artwork, the quantity and any foil or embossing you want priced.
  5. Review the written quote and the free design proof.
  6. Approve; printing and assembly take 4 to 6 business days, then the boxes are tracked to your door at no charge.

Perfume and Fragrance Packaging: common questions

Not answered here? Call +44 7578 382054, message our packaging team on WhatsApp or email info@thecosmeticpackaging.co.uk.

Can a perfume carton hold a bottle with an oversized cap?

Yes. The carton is drawn to the widest point, which is often the cap, and the insert holds the base so the bottle does not tilt.

Do rigid perfume boxes come with a satin insert?

They can. Satin or velvet-covered foam inserts are an option on rigid, magnetic and drawer boxes and are priced on the quote.

What is the usual size for an attar box?

A rigid cube or book box about 70 x 70 x 40 mm suits a 6 ml bottle. Larger attar bottles of 12 ml go in a slightly deeper box.

How many vials fit in a discovery set sleeve?

Three to eight 2 ml vials in a single row is typical. Larger sets use a shallow lid box with two rows.

Can a cylinder box be printed in full colour?

Yes. The wrap paper is printed in CMYK before it is applied, so patterns, photos and metallic finishes all work on a cylinder.

Is a magnetic closure strong enough for a 100 ml bottle?

Yes. The magnet holds the flap shut; the bottle weight is carried by the rigid base and the insert, not the closure.

Can one collection box hold bottles of different sizes?

Yes. The insert is cut to each bottle, so a set of 30, 50 and 100 ml bottles can sit together with each held upright.

Do reed diffuser boxes need a separate reed compartment?

Not always. Reeds are usually bagged and laid beside the bottle. A card divider is available if you want them held apart.
