Mailer boxes printed inside and out for a monthly or quarterly beauty edit. The same box size every month, a new print each time, and a card insert that keeps five or six products in place through the post.

| Edit | Typical box size |
|---|---|
| Three sample sizes and a card | About 180 x 130 x 45 mm |
| Five deluxe minis in a card insert | About 230 x 160 x 60 mm |
| Two full size bottles and three minis | About 260 x 190 x 70 mm |
| Full size quarterly box with a booklet | About 300 x 220 x 80 mm |
Beauty subscription boxes are printed mailer boxes that go straight through the post with a curated set of products inside.
The lid folds over the front and locks, the inside of the lid carries a printed message or pattern, and a card insert or paper fill holds the products. Brands keep one box size and change the artwork for each edition.
It is the box that lands on the mat each month.
No outer, no second carton: the printed box is the parcel. That means it has to do two jobs at once, survive a sorting belt and look like a treat when the lid lifts.
The build is a roll end mailer. The base and walls fold from one sheet, the lid hinges over the front and tucks in, and two side tabs lock it. No tape, no glue at the packing bench.
Inside, a card insert or paper fill holds the month's products, and the underside of the lid carries the print the subscriber sees first.
The big monthly beauty boxes made the format familiar, but the same mailer now works for a single brand sending its own quarterly edit, or a salon posting a home-care refill every eight weeks.
Other set and gift boxes that pair with a subscription are in the gift boxes and subscription boxes range.
Work from the largest edit you will send in a year, not the smallest.
A box that fits five deluxe minis plus a booklet is about 230 x 160 x 60 mm. One that takes two full size bottles is nearer 260 x 190 x 70 mm.
Depth is set by the tallest item lying flat. A 30 ml dropper bottle lying down is about 35 mm thick, a 50 ml jar is 45 mm, so a 60 mm inside depth covers most minis with a card insert.
The standard sizes for the bottles and jars that fill these boxes are listed on our UK cosmetic box sizes page, which saves measuring every sample.
The box is the parcel, so the board has to be heavier than a cosmetic carton.
A mailer board with some give at the corners takes a drop better than a stiff thin board that creases.
The lid tucks and the side tabs lock, which holds without tape. For glass inside, the insert does the rest: each bottle in its own slot, with the slots cut so nothing touches.
Keep the weight sensible. Six full size products in a 300 mm box is over a kilogram, and the box corners take that on landing. Board, rigid and finish options are available on request, and we confirm the board for your weight on the quote.
| Contents | Hold them with | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Deluxe minis, tubes and sachets | Crinkle paper fill | Light items, quick to pack, looks generous |
| Glass droppers and jars | Die-cut card insert | Each item in a slot, no glass contact |
| Two full size bottles | Card insert with a round hole per bottle | Stops bottles rolling and knocking |
| Booklet or magazine on top | Lay flat over the insert | First thing seen, protects the products |
The inside of the lid is the biggest panel the subscriber reads.
A short welcome line, the edition name and the month, and a pattern that fills the space all work. One of the boxes in our photos prints a single line of type under a pastel pattern.
Print the contents list on a separate card, not the lid. Products change and the card can change with them while the box print stays.
Keep the outside simpler than the inside. A single colour with the brand name and a pattern on the sides is enough for a parcel. Finishes for mailers are plain CMYK or a matt varnish; the glossy options in our guide to print finishes for beauty packaging suit the insert card more than the box.
The die is the cutting shape, and it is the expensive part to change.
The print is not. Keep one box size and swap the artwork each edition: new colour, new pattern, new lid line.
Many brands run a twelve month colour plan, so the January box is one shade and February the next. Subscribers notice, and the boxes stack on a shelf as a set.
Change the insert when the contents change, not the box. A card insert with a different cut each month costs far less than a new box die.
Paper fill is quick and forgiving.
It suits sachets, tubes and small plastic bottles, and it makes a half-full box look full.
A card insert is tidier and safer. Glass bottles sit in slots, jars sit in round holes, and the subscriber sees a layout rather than a nest. It takes longer to pack and the cut has to match the month's contents.
Plenty of brands use both: an insert for the two glass items and a handful of paper for the rest. Inserts are made on request and shown on the proof.
Subscription packing is a production line, so the routine matters.
Sizing the box to month one is the first.
The edit grows, the box does not, and by month four products are being squeezed in.
Printing the month's contents on the box itself is the second. Any late change to the edit means the print is wrong.
Using a thin cosmetic board because the print looks nicer is the third. A mailer board carries print well enough and it arrives square. If you are posting a single order rather than a monthly edit, our cosmetic mailer boxes for online orders cover that.
Yes, and many brands sell a one-off version of the monthly box as a gift.
The same mailer takes a printed belly band or a sleeve for the gift edition, and the inside print does the rest.
For a gift that needs a lid and base or a magnetic close, the mailer is the wrong build. Those are rigid boxes and they do not post bare.
If the gift version has the same contents as the month's box, keep the insert and print a different lid line. One insert, two editions.
Send the box size you have in mind, or a list of the biggest edit you plan, along with your logo and the number of boxes per edition.
For an insert, list each product with its width and height.
Our designers prepare a free proof of the outside, the inside of the lid and the insert cut. Quantities are quoted per order from £0.25 per unit, with the written quote setting the price for your size, board and print.
Printing takes 4–6 business days after you approve the proof, and free tracked delivery reaches any UK address in 2–3 business days. If a bundle arrives misprinted or crushed, send photos inside 10 days and we reprint it or refund it. Send the edition plan through the quote request for subscription boxes.
Choose a real photo of the box you have in mind, put your logo on it, pick a colour and finish, and send it over. Our designers turn it into a free, print-ready proof.

The more we know about what goes inside, the bottle or jar, the quantity and the look you are after, the sharper the price. A packaging specialist replies within one business day with a written quote and a free design proof.

Yes. The cutting die stays the same and only the artwork changes, which keeps the price steady across editions.
