What are bath bomb boxes?

Bath bomb boxes are printed cartons or rigid boxes that hold one bath bomb, a row of three or a grid of six, each in its own space.

They are made to the bomb diameter, with a card divider so the bombs do not knock together. We size them to your mould and confirm everything on a written quote.

What are bath bomb boxes?

Bath bomb boxes are printed cartons built around a round, fragile product that dislikes moisture and knocks.

They hold one bomb, a row of three, or a grid of six, each in its own space.

The kraft three-pack in the photos is a tuck end carton with a lid window. The black box is a rigid lid and base with a six-cell divider.

We make both to the bomb diameter you give us. Nothing is a stock size, so a 45 mm mini and a 75 mm jumbo each get a box that fits.

Which bath bomb sizes do boxes need to fit?

Bath bombs come out of moulds, so sizes are fairly standard across UK makers.

Weight matters less than diameter for the box, but it decides the board.

Allow about 5 mm around each bomb. Too tight and the surface rubs off on the board, too loose and the bombs clash and chip. There is more on mould sizes and weights in our bath bomb and salt packaging guide.

Who orders printed bath bomb boxes?

Bath bombs are one of the most common products for a UK maker to start with, so the buyers run from kitchen-table businesses to established wholesale brands.

Soap, salts and loofahs from the same maker sit in our bath and body packaging range, so the whole line can share one look.

  • Home-based bath makers selling at craft fairs and markets
  • Gift shop and farm shop suppliers packing three-packs
  • Wedding and baby shower favour sellers
  • Spa and salon retail counters
  • Online sellers who need a retail box inside the parcel

Tuck end cartons for one or three bombs

A straight tuck end carton is the everyday bath bomb box.

The bomb sits in a cube, the top flap tucks in and the whole thing folds flat for storage.

For three, the carton becomes a long tray with a hinged lid and a card divider with two slots. The divider stops the bombs rolling into each other when the box is carried.

An auto-lock bottom is worth asking about on single cartons. It clicks into shape with one push and takes the bomb's weight without a glued base. Each carton style is drawn out in our cosmetic box styles guide.

Rigid boxes with dividers for six

Six bombs in a two by three grid is the set size most gift buyers go for.

The black box in the photos uses rigid greyboard with a printed wrap, a lift-off lid and a six-cell divider.

Rigid boxes arrive assembled with the divider in place. You drop the bombs in, add tissue, and close the lid. A printed label panel in the lid centre is enough for the brand.

Card, foam or tissue inserts are available on request. Crinkle paper under each bomb, as in the photo, hides the gap and softens the landing.

How do you protect bath bombs from damp and knocks?

A bath bomb starts to fizz with any moisture, and a box cannot keep it out on its own.

Wrap each bomb in shrink film or a paper twist first, then box it.

Knocks are the box's job. A snug cell, a divider between neighbours and a lid that closes under slight pressure stop the bomb moving.

Do not store boxed bombs in a cold outbuilding. Condensation forms on the inside of the film and the board, and the bomb goes soft before it sells. If the box goes in the post, pair it with our corrugated bath bomb mailer boxes.

Board choices and the oil problem

Bath bombs carry fragrance oil and sometimes cocoa butter.

Both migrate into plain board over weeks and leave a dark patch on the outside.

A laminated board option stops the patch showing. Matt lamination suits kraft and white alike, and a white inside face is an option that makes marks less visible.

Boxboard between 350 and 400 gsm is the usual carton board. Kraft board gives the natural look in the first photo. Board, rigid and finish options are available on request.

Print and finishes that sell on a gift shop shelf

Bath bombs are bought on colour and scent, so the box should name both.

A pastel wash with the scent name in a large serif does more than a crowded label.

Full colour CMYK on a white board gives the cleanest pastels. One colour on kraft, like the first photo's window box, keeps the cost down for a market stall range.

Foil, spot UV and embossing are options. A spot UV gloss over a printed splash is a simple way to suggest the fizz without a photo. Each effect is explained in our foil and spot UV finishes guide.

Mistakes to avoid on bath bomb packaging

The first is boxing the bomb unwrapped.

The surface dusts off, the oil marks the board and the scent fades through the carton.

The second is ordering one box size for three mould sizes. A 45 mm bomb in a 60 mm box rattles and arrives chipped.

The third is a window with no film on a product that sheds powder. Either add the window film option or keep the window small. Single bombs sold on sight do better in our bath bomb boxes with a window.

Bath Bomb Boxes: questions buyers ask

Not answered here? Call +44 7578 382054, message our packaging team on WhatsApp or email info@thecosmeticpackaging.co.uk.

What box size fits a 60 mm bath bomb?

About 65 x 65 x 65 mm inside for a single cube carton. That leaves a few millimetres of play without letting the bomb roll.

Can one bath bomb box hold three different scents?

Yes, a three-pack tray with a slotted divider keeps each bomb in its own cell, so scents and colours do not rub together.

Do bath bomb boxes come with a divider?

A slotted card divider is available on request for three and six packs. Single cartons do not need one.

Should I shrink wrap bath bombs before boxing?

Yes. The box cannot keep moisture out on its own, and an unwrapped bomb dusts the board and loses scent.

Will fragrance oil stain the bath bomb box?

It can on plain board over a few weeks. A matt lamination option and a wrapped bomb stop the mark showing.

Can I get kraft bath bomb boxes with a window?

Yes, the kraft three-pack in the photos has a lid window. Film over the window is an option.

Do you make rigid bath bomb boxes for six?

Yes, the black box in the photos is one: wrapped greyboard, lift-off lid, six-cell divider, delivered made up.

Are bath bomb boxes delivered flat or made up?

Tuck end cartons and three-pack trays come flat. Rigid six-cell boxes arrive assembled with the divider fitted.
