Can one gift box hold products from different ranges?
Yes. A serum, a lipstick and a perfume mini can share one insert. Send the size of each and the designer lays them out together.
Five box types for products sold together: rigid gift boxes, skincare and perfume set boxes with shaped inserts, and the mailer boxes that subscription and online beauty brands post every month. All drawn from your product list and proofed before print.

Two to five piece beauty sets and salon retail
Cosmetic gift boxes are presentation boxes that hold two or more beauty products in one pack. They are usually rigid greyboard with a printed wrap, closed by a magnetic flap or a lift-off lid, and fitted with a card or foam insert cut to each item. Folding versions in metallic or textured board are made for lighter sets.
30 ml serum and 50 ml cream duos, launch trios
Skincare gift set boxes are presentation boxes sized to a set of skincare products, most often a 30 ml serum with a 50 ml cream and sometimes a balm or an eye product. They use a drawer, a sleeve and tray or a magnetic lid, and an insert with a cut-out for each container. They are made to your bottles and printed with your branding.
Bottle and vial sets, duos and mini discovery sets
Perfume gift boxes are presentation boxes made for a fragrance set rather than a single bottle. They hold one bottle with a vial or a roll-on, a pair of bottles, or a row of minis, each in a cut-out so glass never touches glass. Most are rigid with a magnetic, lift-off or window lid, and all are made to your bottles.
Monthly beauty edits and quarterly brand boxes
Beauty subscription boxes are printed mailer boxes that go straight through the post with a curated set of products inside. The lid folds over the front and locks, the inside of the lid carries a printed message or pattern, and a card insert or paper fill holds the products. Brands keep one box size and change the artwork for each edition.
Posting skincare, makeup and hair care orders
Cosmetic mailer boxes are self-locking postal boxes for sending beauty products to customers. The lid hinges over the front, tucks in and is held by side tabs, so the box closes without tape. Print goes on the outside, the inside or both, and a card insert with slots or holes keeps bottles and jars from moving.
A gift box holds more than one product and is judged on the moment it opens.
A subscription box does the same job once a month, through the post, at a lower cost per box. Both need an insert that keeps the pieces in place and a lid that reveals them in order.
This range has two rigid gift formats, two set boxes drawn for specific products, and two mailer formats. The set boxes are the ones most beauty brands order for Mother's Day, Valentine's and wedding favours.
The five products and what each one does.
| Box | Best for | Key detail |
|---|---|---|
| Cosmetic Gift Boxes | Any beauty gift of 2 to 5 pieces | Rigid lid box, foil message on the lid |
| Skincare Gift Set Boxes | Serum and cream duos and trios | Magnetic flap box with a cut insert |
| Perfume Gift Boxes | Perfume with a matching mini or lotion | Lid box with a clear lid or window option |
| Beauty Subscription Boxes | Monthly boxes of 3 to 6 items | Printed mailer with crinkle fill or insert |
| Cosmetic Mailer Boxes | Posting one or two products safely | Kraft mailer with a shaped card insert |
Beauty brands at seasonal peaks are the biggest group.
A brand with a serum and a moisturiser puts them together in a set box for Mother's Day and sells both at once.
Subscription companies order the same mailer month after month, often with a different inside print each time. Online shops need a mailer that holds a bottle and a jar without a separate carton for each. Spas and salons box treatment sets for sale at reception.
For a gift that is not tied to one product, cosmetic gift boxes with a foil lid are the flexible choice: a rigid box with an insert you can change per set.
A 30 ml dropper bottle and a 50 ml jar sit side by side in an insert about 150 x 90 mm.
The box around it is about 165 x 105 x 60 mm inside. The pink box in our photos is this layout, with the lid hinged on a magnetic flap and the two products in cut-outs.
Add a third product and the insert grows to about 220 mm long, or the pieces go in two rows. The box height is set by the tallest item, usually the dropper bottle at 100 to 110 mm when laid down or standing.
The sizes below are starting points for common sets. Skincare gift set boxes with a magnetic flap are drawn from your actual containers.
| Set | Pieces | A common inside box size |
|---|---|---|
| Serum and cream duo | 30 ml dropper, 50 ml jar | 165 x 105 x 60 mm |
| Skincare trio | Cleanser 100 ml, serum 30 ml, cream 50 ml | 230 x 110 x 65 mm |
| Perfume and mini | 50 ml bottle, 10 ml roll-on | 160 x 110 x 50 mm |
| Perfume and body lotion | 50 ml bottle, 100 ml lotion | 190 x 120 x 60 mm |
| Monthly subscription box | 4 to 6 small items | 230 x 160 x 60 mm mailer |
| Two-product mailer | One bottle, one jar | 180 x 120 x 70 mm mailer |
Perfume sets are sold on the look of the bottle, so the box often has a clear lid or a large window.
The set in our photos has a clear lid over a shaped tray, a satin ribbon and the bottle and a solid perfume held in cut-outs.
A rigid lid box with a printed wrap is the alternative when the brand wants the box itself to carry the design. Foil on the lid and a satin-covered insert inside are the usual additions, priced on the quote.
Perfume gift boxes with a clear lid are quoted from the bottle and the second item, whether that is a mini, a lotion or a candle.
Consistency outside and variety inside.
The mailer is the same size and print every month, so the subscriber recognises it on the doormat. The inside print, the fill colour or a card changes with the theme.
The pink mailer in our photos has a message printed inside the lid, crinkle fill and sample tubes laid on top with a card. That layout works because nothing is fixed: the contents change and the fill holds whatever arrives.
Beauty subscription boxes with inside print are quoted per run, and repeat runs with a new inside print use the same dieline and proof quickly.
A rigid box is the gift.
It arrives assembled, feels heavy, opens with a lift and stays on a dressing table. It costs more per unit and takes more storage space because it does not fold flat.
A mailer is the parcel. It folds from one sheet, closes with a tuck flap and takes an inside print and an insert. It is the right answer when the gift is posted and the box will be opened once.
Many brands use both: a rigid box for the shop shelf and a mailer for online orders of the same set. The insert is often shared between the two, which keeps the layout work down.
The insert is the part that stops a serum bottle and a jar meeting in transit.
A card insert cut with a hole per product is the standard choice and is made from the same board as a carton. Foam inserts suit heavier glass and rigid boxes.
The kraft mailer in our photos shows a card platform with a round cut-out for a jar and slots for two tubes. The products drop in and the lid holds them down. Crinkle fill is the cheaper option when contents change every month.
Cosmetic mailer boxes with a shaped card insert are drawn from the products you list, so send the sizes of every item that will travel in it.
Rigid gift boxes are built on greyboard around 1.5 to 2 mm thick and covered with a printed wrap.
The wrap takes full colour, foil, embossing and a soft touch or matt lamination. Textured and linen wraps are available as options.
Mailers and set boxes use folding boxboard at the heavier end, 400 gsm or so. When heavier glass will be posted inside, a printed sheet laminated to a thin corrugated layer is the next step up.
Foil on the lid is the finish most gift boxes use, as on the gold box in our photos with a script message. Rigid, board and finish choices are quoted as options on request.
For a gift, yes, nearly always.
The lid lifts, the eye lands on the inside of the lid before the products, and a flat colour or a short line of type there does more than any outer print.
The usual choices are a flood colour that matches the insert, a pattern that continues from the outside, or a short message. The set name and the order to use the pieces in are the two messages brands ask for most. Keep it to one idea; the products are the point.
Inside print on a rigid box is printed on the wrap before the box is made, so it costs little extra. On a mailer it is printed on the reverse of the sheet, and the whole inside can carry colour.
Sets have more pieces than single cartons, so more goes wrong at the layout stage.
The free proof catches most of it, but these save a round of changes.
List every product that goes in the box with its size, and say whether the box is for a shelf, a parcel or both.
The designer draws the insert from that list.
Choose a real photo of the box you have in mind, put your logo on it, pick a colour and finish, and send it over. Our designers turn it into a free, print-ready proof.

The more we know about what goes inside, the bottle or jar, the quantity and the look you are after, the sharper the price. A packaging specialist replies within one business day with a written quote and a free design proof.

Yes. A serum, a lipstick and a perfume mini can share one insert. Send the size of each and the designer lays them out together.
Only if the print changes. A new inside print or lid message is proofed quickly on the same dieline; a repeat run with no changes needs no new proof.
Yes. A lid-and-base rigid box or a folding carton with an insert holds the same set at a lower cost.
About 165 x 105 x 60 mm inside for a 30 ml dropper and a 50 ml jar. Larger products push that out; send your container sizes.
Yes. A clear lid over a printed tray is an option, as is a window cut into a printed lid. Both are priced on the quote.
Crinkle fill suits contents that change each month. A cut insert suits a fixed set where every box holds the same items.
Yes. A plain kraft or white outside with full colour inside the lid is a common choice for subscription and online brands.
A folding mailer in heavy board carries a few glass bottles and jars comfortably. For heavier sets a corrugated layer is added under the print.

Mailers and folding set cartons ship flat and fold up in seconds. Rigid and magnetic gift boxes are glued and arrive made up in outer cartons.
Yes. A card the size of the box footprint can be printed with the order and placed on top of the insert.
